Five Halloween Dating Ideas For Countryside Partners

Whilst Halloween might look a little different this year, we still think that it’s a magical time for you and your country match to get together and celebrate the spooky season. Whether you’re a halloween-hater or an addict of All Hallows, we’ve gathered together a seductive selection of date ideas for you and your rural partner to enjoy together.

1. Pick your own pumpkins

Whether you’re lucky enough to have your own pumpkin patch or you have one nearby on a farm or country estate, a day in the fresh, crisp air selecting the most superb squash is wholesome, healthy and a great way to support local businesses. Make memories together, breathe in the fresh air and follow up with a walk. Then, head home to carve your pumpkin in to a vicious visage. Word on the street is that the kids will still be walking around to spot as many pumpkins as possible, so pop yours in the front window and light it up!

2. Fire pit and seasonal food

After so much time outside this summer, the change in seasons means that many of us find ourselves cooped up indoors more than out. Reverse the rhythm this year and hold an intimate and romantic soiree in your garden or yard. Gather up some seasonal food (local sausages, home-made squash soup, jacket potatoes and the ubiquitous marshmallows), string up the fairy lights and light the candles and set the scene for a relaxing al fresco supper.

3. Scary Movie night

With the sad news that Cineworld are temporarily closing their doors, and many independent cinemas are closed, it’s clear that the film industry needs our support. As long as you feel comfortable, take your rural date to your local screen to indulge in a classic scary movie. If you feel better at home, many of the paid-for screening services are showing some spine-chilling specials. Draw the curtains, turn down the lights and get ready for the fright.

4. Get Hygge

As October melts into November, we’re all about embracing the Danish concept of Hygge – that is ‘a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being’. Cosy, homely and warm sounds like the perfect evening in, and a great way to get romantic with your country match. Hygge essentials include blankets, candles, warming food and drink, fluffy socks and, most importantly, good company. So, channel your inner Scandi and invite your rural romance around for an evening well-spent.

5. Take a walk at dusk

Not necessarily Halloween-related but at this time of year, as day fades into night, the mist starts to rise and we are treated to some spectacular sunsets, is there any better way to enjoy the beautiful British countryside than a stroll at dusk? Plan your route, and take torches if necessary, then wrap up and get outside.
