Six Spooky Date Ideas For Halloween

31 October is on its way and we all know what that means…. yep, that other thing, Halloween! Whether you love it or loathe it, Halloween is a great opportunity to ask your countryside match out for a fun, autumnal date. With your love of the countryside and being active in mind, we’ve put together some seasonal date ideas that you and your fellow country lover will adore.

1. City Ghost Tour

Good any time of the year but especially at Halloween, a ghost tour really will take you and your date to the dark side. Remember to wrap up warm then head to your local city for a spook-tastic evening. We love the tours on offer in Edinburgh, St Andrews, York, Liverpool, Lincoln and York.

2. Pumpkin Carving

Bring out the competitive side of your date with a pumpkin carving contest. Scoop out the pumpkin flesh (save it for soup, pie or a curry) then get creative to see who can make the best carving. Then cosy up with the candles lit for a romantic evening in.

3. Scary Movie

Fright night sound alright? The clocks have gone back and the nights are long and dark, so it’s an ideal time to channel the hygge vibe, light some candles and scare the living daylights out of your countryside date with a scary movie or two. For added Halloween atmosphere light your pumpkin candle (as above), get the pick ‘n’ mix out and stir up a Bloody Mary cocktail or two.

4. Escape Rooms

Like normal escape rooms with a Halloween twist, you and your date will bond over this shared spooky experience, as well as finding out how well you each perform under pressure. Get prep for life, in general, we think.

5. DIY Costume Making

We all have an inner child raring to be let loose, and what better way than inviting your date around for a DIY costume making sessions. It’s amazing what you can fashion out of an old sheet or two, so don’t be afraid to let your silly side shine as you have fun with your date.

6. Behind Closed Doors tour at your local stately home

Legend probably has it that your local country house has a ghost or two, and all over the country there are behind closed doors tours popping up to give you an insight into the other side. The eerie activities are endless.

7. Devilish Drinks

If things with your Muddy Match are still very new, then we know that a lot of high street coffee chains may just have a few Halloween-themed drinks to bring you and your countryside date together. Bring on the Pumpkin Spice!

8. Cosy night in and pretend it’s not happening

If Halloween really isn’t your thing, then close the curtains tight, light the fire and prepare a romantic dinner for two. Ignore the trick or treaters and you can pretend the whole day never happened.
