August Bank Holiday Dating Ideas

The long August Bank Holiday is nearly here and, fingers crossed, we’ll be bathed in sunshine and heat. Perfect for a date with your Muddy Match, no? Here are our personal favourite ideas for countryside dating to help you make the most of the extra day off and get to know your country-loving date a little better.

1. Edinburgh Fringe

If you’re close to Edinburgh, don’t miss the final weekend of Edinburgh’s festival extravaganza. Comedy, music, street performers, and a party atmosphere… what’s not to love? Get the full Fringe schedule here.

2. Lincoln Steampunk

Steampunk is returning to Lincoln for its 11th year! Whether you dress up to fully immerse yourself in the quirky steam-powered world or just go along to spectate, this is a wonderful way to enjoy the beautiful city. As well as the Victorian bazaar, parades and steampunk embassy, there’ll be a load of art, literature, music, fashion, comedy and fun! More details here.

3. Notting Hill Carnival

Head to the biggest street carnival in Europe in Notting Hill! Get in to the party atmosphere and enjoy a spectacular exuberance of colour, music, food and diversity. We guarantee you’ll have a weekend to remember. More details here.

4. The Big Feastival

If food is your thing, and local produce your passion, then a date at The Big Feastival in the Cotswolds should be top of your dating ideas list. Run by celeb chef Jamie Oliver and ex-Blur guitarist Alex James, expect fantastic food, cookery demos from some top chefs and an incredible musical line-up. It’s family friendly, too (hello, Peppa Pig) and did we mention The Cheese Hub? Get the full info now.

5. Moovin Festival

It started off as a small cow barn party and now it’s a boutique festival in a bull field. If you love the countryside (and cows) and have a penchant for great music, then take your date to the eco-friendly Whitebottom farm in the stunning countryside in Compstall, near Manchester. There’ll be music, local, fresh food and camping under the stars in beautiful bell tents. Romance guaranteed. Get more info here.

6. Wensleydale Agricultural Show

A more sedate date idea but still one that is fun, interesting and super-country-loving. Get to the incredibly beautiful Yorkshire Dales for the Wensleydale Agricultural Show and display your country credentials in style. Plan your day here.

7. Cornwall

If your date is a true beach babe or beach boy, then you can’t go wrong with a mini-break to stunning Cornwall. North coast or south, either will do. While away the hours walking the coastal path, chilling on the beach, exploring the coastline or heading out to sea. Plan your visit here.
