Winter wonderland dates

It’s nearly Christmas and there’s a chill in the air, so it’s time to think about where to take your date to embrace the seasonal weather. If it starts to rain again, please refer to my rainy day dates blog post instead.

Here’s some of the best ways to get into the festive spirit:

Ice skating

Ice-skating is a fun and festive activity for this time of year and is a great idea for a first date or a 31st date. At this time of the year, mini ice-rinks spring up everywhere (and usually have time limits if you’re looking for a brief get together).

Christmas market

Christmas markets also start to appear all over the UK and Ireland in December, often alongside mini ice-rinks and are another festive outdoor date idea. Check out the stalls together or just skip the crowds and head for the mulled beverages and festive snacks.

Skiing/snowboarding

Whether you’re close to a dry-ski slope, a real snow indoor slope or even a genuine ski-resort you can indulge your adventurous side and take your date out on the slope. Even dry ski slopes have après-ski facilities, well a café at least so that you can debrief after. Just make sure you’ve both been before, as you don’t want to be separated off into a beginner’s group.

Seaside walk

You might think that I’m crazy, but there’s something strangely bracing about a walk along the coast when it’s chilly outside. It’s not the most suitable idea for a first date, as we recommend a more public place to meet, but it’s nice to wrap up warm and get outside with someone who you have been dating for a while. If you’ve got dogs, you can always take them along too.
