Reasons Your Photo is Being Rejected

A dog running in a field

When you sign up for online dating on Muddy Matches you are encouraged to add a photograph to your profile. However, you may find that your photo is rejected when it is sent to us for approval. Here are some of the top reasons why a Main Photo will be rejected and how to avoid them:

You are wearing sunglassesSunglasses do add a bit of sophistication to a photo and suggest sunnier climates, but they also obscure your face.

You are too far away from the camera – A photo of you riding a horse in the distance makes a lovely additional photo, but is no good when we crop it to be your Main Photo as it will become blurry (unless it was a very large image).

The photo is too smallWe ask that your photo is at least 768 pixels by 1024 pixels for your Main Photo. This will ensure that the photo is clear when it appears on your profile.

You are not an animal Every day we receive photos of people’s pets as their Main Photo and every day we have to reject them. A lot of Muddy Matches members love animals, but they don’t want to date them, so we ask that your Main Photo is of you.

You are with another person – If you send in a Main Photo of yourself with someone else, or with a group of people, we will not be able to guess who you are (unless it’s obvious). Please crop your friends out of your Main Photo before sending it for approval.

The photo has a copyright markIf you send in a photograph with a copyright mark on it e.g. @muddymatchesphotography we will have to reject it, as we do not wish to break copyright laws.

You have added an effect to the photo – It’s become popular to add effects such as a cartoonizer to change the look of a photo.  As these effects can drastically change the way someone looks, we ask that you send a standard photo for your Main Photo.

For your Main Photo, please ensure that the picture shows your face clearly and meets the size criteria. All of the above restrictions, with the exception of copyright will be accepted as additional photos.
