Farmer finally gets his wife after Christmas Day proposal

Monday, November 22nd, 2021

A mud loving couple, who saw their summer wedding plans put on ice due to the pandemic, have finally tied the knot to become a Muddy Matched Mr & Mrs, one year on.

Lisa met livestock farmer Ken online whilst country life dating with Muddy Matches in June 2016. After enjoying the buzz of a two- and half-year rural romance together, Ken popped the question on Christmas Day 2018, over hand reared turkey.

The engaged couple quickly set a date to get married in May 2020, with grand plans afoot for 100-day guests at a church service, and a further 200 invited for a marquee reception on Ken’s family farm in the heart of Thirsk.

Lisa moved south from Durham to join her fiancé in Yorkshire in March, then coronavirus struck, and everything went on hold.

30 May 2020 came and went.

“Fortunately, we have been able to move most of the arrangements one full year ahead to 29 May 2021” Lisa told us back in December. With catering, church service, photography and entertainment all booked, there was lots of uncertainty along the way.

The pair were also realistic that their plans may have needed to be scaled back, as COVID-19 roadmap restrictions on the size of group gatherings changed, and rechanged.

As May drew nearer, with wedding party numbers still tightly controlled, the couple took the decision to press on, albeit scaling things back, with a wedding party of 29, just under the then legal limit of 30.

Here at Muddy Matches, we are delighted to report that Lisa and Ken became husband and wife, in front of friends and family, at Borrowby Chapel near Ken’s hometown, in their summer wedding as hoped.

“There were no muddy touches, but it was a glorious day,” Lisa reports. “We were also able to have a party to celebrate us getting married 6 weeks later at the farm.”

Now the pair can look forward to making more muddy memories together, and, as Lisa so lovingly puts it in true Muddy Matches style… “live happily ever after on the farm.”

From everyone at Muddy Matches, we are delighted that the farmer got his wife… finally.
