5 Ways to Stand Out from the Crowd

crowd of people at a formal dinnerWith over a 100,000 members on Muddy Matches it’s important to make sure that you stand out from the crowd.
  1. Avoid clichés – When we first started writing this blog, people tended to say that they liked to “relax with a bottle of wine and a DVD”, but now box sets and Netflix have taken the cliché crown. If you’re going to say that you like to watch Netflix and drink a glass of wine, let people know what your must watch programmes are and what your guilty pleasure is.Clichés don’t let people know about you as an individual and may put people off reading the rest of your profile.
  2. Show your sense of humour – If you’re looking through lots of profiles (including lots of cliché packed profiles) everyone will start to look the same. Showing your sense of humour will make you stand out and will mean that people will be more likely to remember your profile.
  3. Don’t be a welly – You may have noticed that lots of people have a pair of Wellington boots as their profile picture on Muddy Matches. This is our filler photo if people have not uploaded a photo of themselves. If you want to stand out, make sure that you have a fantastic profile picture, which shows your face clearly.
  4. Keep up-to-date – By keeping your profile up-to-date you will appear higher up the searches than people who do not regularly update their profile. However, it’s not necessary to it every day. Once a week will do. The search system also rewards people who log in regularly by pushing them towards the top of searches.
  5. Make the first move – By far the best way to stand out from the crowd is to make the first move! Sending someone a message is a guaranteed way to get their attention. You may not get a response each time, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.
