Are you keen for people to get in contact with you? Yes, well the key is to make it easy for people to get in touch with you.

Give a little, but not too much

Your profile should be long enough for people to get an idea of who you are, but not so long that they’ll know your entire life story. Aim for approximately 300 words.

Writing something like “I don’t want to reveal too much, so get in touch if you want to know more” is a near guaranteed way to put someone off sending you a message, as it gives them nothing to go on.

Think about what’s important in your life – are you a dedicated farmer or a keen gardener? Are you country through-and-through or do you like to head into the city to see a show?

Ask a question in your profile

Asking a question in your profile can make it easier for people to know what to write to you in their first message; it also shows you who has read your profile correctly.

Some members have even used cracker jokes in their profile, in the hope that potential matches will send them the punchline. It might seem cheesy, but it really works.

Give an inch

Add people to your ‘Favourites’ list to let them know that you are interested in them. It also means that you will have them in a list so that you can send them a message further down the line.

Send a message

This is the most effective way to get someone to send you a message – send them one first!
