Make ’em Laugh

If you’ve ever read the personal ads in the newspapers, you’ll know that a GSOH (good sense of humour) is often the first thing that people mention in their advert.

Fortunately when it comes to online dating you’ll have more than a hundred words to express yourself, so you can show your humour without resorting to acronyms or short cliches.

Instead of saying that you are “a good laugh” or like a “bit of banter”, show people what sense of humour you have in your writing style. For example; if you’re quite a sarcastic person, use sarcasm to express yourself, or if you’ve got quite a silly sense of humour talk about the silly things that make you laugh on a day-to-day basis.

Some people also like to give examples of their favourite comedians, sitcoms or radio presenters so that others can see if their interests match up. If your interests do match up, it’s a great excuse for people to say something like, “I love that comedian too, there’s a show on next month if you fancy it?”

Don’t worry about being hilarious, it’s just important to give people an understanding of what makes you laugh.
