Love ewe! Kaz lands her sheep farming match

Sunday, February 20th, 2022

A sheep farmer from North Yorkshire invited to his muddy match to move in with him after just a handful of dates…

… then made her wait five months to complete the deed whilst he finished the barn conversion they’d eventually get to call home.

It’s all part of Kaz and Stephen’s muddy love story that started out life online, inspired by Muddy Matches, three years ago.

Kaz, a 70% muddy, land and property agent, met sheep farmer Stephen whilst country life dating with us in September 2018.

They quickly bonded over a love of old comedies, a mutual passion for Status Quo and a shared outlook on life.

“We are very similar in that we are both morning people” Kaz tells us. “We are both hard workers and respect each other’s need to be alone sometimes. Neither of us are jealous; we are both quite old fashioned and traditional.

“We like the same music. We love cats and laugh at the same things satire wise, and love classic comedy, like Morecombe and Wise.

But Kaz is also quick to point out that opposites also attract. “We do have our differences; I’m optimistic, and he isn’t!” she laughs.

The mix clearly works for this country couple though as their rural relationship bloomed quickly.

“Stephen looked kind, and young, in his profile so when he asked me out for dinner (ed; a curry of all things), I thought ‘why not?’ Kaz recalls.

“We had 3 or 4 dates and Stephen asked me to move in with him. But he was actually doing up a barn at the time, so it was about 5 months before we actually moved in”.

They have wasted little time since though. In fact, it’s been quite the baptism of fire.

“We looked after my 10-week-old twin grandchildren for four days after dating for only six months. We have also hatched five ‘Light Sussex’ eggs and now they are part of the family too.”

Looking ahead, Kaz is keen to get away with her man but appreciates agricultural life doesn’t often allow for time spent together on holidays.

“I’d like to have a week in Scotland or go to Italy as a couple this year but with Stephen being a farmer, he gets only the odd day off, so I usually go away without him.

“I also want three alpacas now we have the land.”

As for her advice to other mud lovers looking to unearth a soulmate on Muddy Matches, Kaz is clear of mind, having met some rude people on other dating sites; Stick with Muddy Matches, give it time.

“My Muddy Matches experience was slow at first. I chatted to a couple of chaps but chose only to date Stephen. So, my advice is to be patient… and looks aren’t everything.
