Newmarket speed dating: the results are in!

Monday, April 28th, 2008

We had a fantastic night on Friday at Tattersalls in Newmarket, with over 80 people from across the East of England coming together for the evening of speed dating we put on with the Countryside Alliance.

A lot of people had never tried it before and so did not know what to expect but, from the very beginning, the room was alive with the sound of chatter and they were pleasantly surprised by how un-scary speed dating is and how friendly everyone was.  A lot of people had come on their own, or with just one or two friends, and everyone there was keen to meet new people so the atmosphere was incredible.

Newmarket_sd_2We had three different age groups for the speed dating and, with all three sessions running at the same time, it took some organising!  However, people soon got into the swing of things and it looked like everyone had a lot of fun.  When the speed dating had finished, everyone made good use of the bar and took the opportunity to chat to people in their group again or to those in other groups that they hadn’t had a chance to speak to yet.

Newmarket_sd_1As the evening drew to a close, plans were hatched between new friends to continue the party elsewhere in Newmarket.  One gang went out for dinner together while some braver souls (ourselves included) headed to the infamous DeNiros for some overpriced alcopops and a boogie!

On Saturday we went through all the results and emailed everyone with their ‘matches’…and there were a lot of ‘dating’ matches so there was definitely some chemistry in the air on the night!  There were also gazillions of ‘friendship’ matches and a lot of people swapped numbers on the night – hooray!

Finally, thanks to everyone who sent lovely emails over the weekend – we’re glad you had fun and, for those of you who couldn’t make it, don’t worry we’ll definitely be looking to do some similar events in the future, both in the Eastern region and across the UK.

Tunnell_house_inn_2 Next social event: join in the fun at The Tunnel House Inn for their Badminton after party on Saturday 3rd May.  We’re not organising the event, but will definitely be going and would love to take the opportunity to organise a really informal Muddy Matches get-together.  If you’re free on the Saturday evening and fancy coming to meet up with us, drop Lucy a line at lucy@muddymatches.co.uk (or call 07901 865283 on the day).  There will be a DJ and marquee and tickets can be bought on the door for £5.00.
