Photo Safety

Online dating is a relatively safe way to meet new people, but it still important to be careful when you share information online. This means that you should think about what details you share in your online dating profile and in the photos that you choose to share online.

Here are some of the things to consider when choosing your Main Photo and your additional photos.

Do not include logos

Wearing a top that is branded with your workplace logo, or your sports team’s logo will let people know information about you that can help them to find you offline.

If you are wearing a top with a logo in your photos like this then we will endeavour to blur it out so that we can help to protect your personal information.

Do not include children

If you have children, or grandchildren whom you spend a lot of time with, then it is understandable that you will want to include photos of them on your dating profile, but we would advise that you do not include any photos that show their faces as they cannot give permission to be shown.

Do not write on your photos

Some dating websites use automatic detection software to look for details such as @ signs and numbers that show that someone is trying to share contact details. This means that some people try to overlay their contact details onto their photos so that they can avoid detection.

At Muddy Matches, we have real people looking at every photo and we will not allow anyone to write personal details on top of their photos.

Choose a unique photo

If possible, try to use a Main Photo that you haven’t used on your social media accounts. This is because it is possible to search online for someone using a photograph.
