Planning a First Date

Sunday, November 04th, 2018

A first date is your opportunity to show your love interest what a great person you really are. If you are a super-organised person then you will go about planning your date in a way that will help to impress your first date. If you are a little less organised, then these tips will hopefully help you to arrive at your date feeling calm and collected, rather than being in a flap.

Re-read their profile text

Have another look through their profile text and make notes if necessary so that you don’t get them mixed up with other people whom you have been speaking to. It will also help you to think about what to talk about on your first date as you will be able to discuss hobbies and interests that they have mentioned in their profile text.

Swap contact details

For safety’s sake, we advise people to use the messaging service until you get to know someone well enough to exchange contact details. However, if you are planning to meet up with them, it is a good idea to exchange contact details so that you can get in contact with them if you are running late.

Choose a suitable venue

Make sure that your first date venue is a busy public place and that you have booked in advance if necessary. After all, you don’t want to drive for miles to find out that the place is fully booked for the rest of the day, especially if it is the only place for miles around.

Check the weather

We probably don’t need to tell country-minded people to check the weather, but it helps you to plan what to wear and how to get to your venue. You may even need to change your date plans if you have chosen an activity that it weather-dependant like a high ropes course, or an outdoor ice-rink.

Plan your journey

Take a look at different methods of getting to your date and make sure that you leave yourself enough time to get there. If you are nervous about finding the place, you could even try out the route in advance of meeting up.

Hopefully with a bit of planning you will be able to relax and enjoy your first date.
