Your Perfect Profile Photo

Your Main Photo is the first thing that people will see when they look at your dating profile, so it is important that it is a good representation of what you really look like now.

Here are some tips to make sure that it is the best that it can be.

Light it up

Good lighting can make all the difference to your profile photo. Aim to have your profile photo taken outside during the mid- morning, or mid-afternoon so that you are well-lit, but not in glaring sunshine.

If you cannot go outside for your photo, make sure that you are in a well-lit room and that you do not have your back to the window. A lamp could provide extra light if your energy efficient lighting is a little too efficient.

Enlist a friend

Ask a trusted friend to take a variety of pictures of you in different outfits and in different settings so that you can pick your favourite and also have options for when you wish to change your profile photo.

Selfie advice

If you don’t have a super patient friend, then a selfie might just be the best option. If you are taking a selfie, you will have the opportunity to take the photo over and over again until you are happy with it.

When taking a selfie, try to use the reverse camera on your phone and hold it at arm’s length. Try not to use a bathroom mirror as it doesn’t look as good and the phone can obscure your face if you aren’t careful.

Keep it clear

Along with making sure that you don’t obscure your face with your phone, you should also be careful about covering your face with sunglasses, a hat, or even a glass.

Focus on you

If you are choosing a photo from your gallery, ensure that you choose one where you are on your own. If you are in a group, make sure to crop the image around your face so that people don’t have to play Guess Who?
