Love in the Countryside

Ok, attention please. Here at Muddy Matches HQ we’re super-excited to see that a brand-new dating show is coming to our screens, and it’s right up our ‘farm track’.

Love in the Countryside starts on BBC2 on Wednesday 2 May at 9pm and, as the title suggests, the show aims to bring together eight countryside singles as they look for love. Hosted by Sara Cox, we’ll meet farmers, farriers, vets and rural workers, all single and looking for love. And this is where it gets interesting. Rather than matching them with each other, they’ll be introduced to city dwellers looking to escape the rat race and make a new life in the countryside.

The show combines online dating with face-to-face dating in an unusual, and emotional, approach. Each rural single has created an online dating profile (very like Muddy Matches, we think), aiming to attract responses from urbanites who want to discover a new way of life. They then choose which city-dweller they’d like to meet before going on a real-life speed date. If there’s a spark, the new couples return to the countryside to see if the rural idyll really does live up to expectations.

We can see ourselves glued to the screen, rooting for the singles to shack up together.

Intrigued? Remember to tune in to BBC2 on Wednesday 2 May at 9pm for the first in this emotional, charming series.
