What Should I Write on My Dating Profile?

Saturday, January 20th, 2018

Your online dating profile is your means of telling other single people about who you are and what you are looking for in a relationship. That sounds pretty simple, right? However, when it comes down to it, it can be difficult to actually write something.

Here are some things to include in your dating profile if you are stuck for things to say.

What are you known for?

Think about what your position within your group of friends is. Are you the super-organised one, the shoulder to cry on, the expert DIYer, or the person who is always up for trying new things?

Your position within your friendship group says a lot about your personality and it shows elements that you will bring to a romantic relationship.

Tell people about your work

Are you a dedicated farmer, who gets up at the crack of dawn, come rain or shine to tend to your animals? Or a council worker who knows that top banter can make the day fly by?

Instead of just saying what you do for a living, think about what your like, or dislike about your work. Also, if you are taking a course on the side, mention it in your profile as a potential date might be studying the same thing.

What are your hobbies?

Your hobbies will show the fun side of your life and it helps people to imagine what it would be like to spend time with you. For example, if you enjoy activities like walking, or horse riding, it will show that you are well matched with a fellow outdoorsy person.

Hobbies also show your independent side, which means that you won’t be too reliant on your date to be your sole source of entertainment.

Who do you support?

If you are any avid sports fan, tell people what your favourite team is and who your favourite sports star is. It gives people something to talk about when they message you. Even if it is to jokingly mock your team.
