woman in a fieldA couple of unusual dating stories have hit the headlines this week. Here is what has been happening and what we can learn from their dating antics.

The presentation

The story: Fenton the dog may be a distant YouTube memory, but this week another Fenton; American university student Lizzy Fenton, became known for her PowerPoint presentation skills. Miss Fenton sent the presentation to a fellow student and explained in detail why she thought that he should go on a date with her. Lizzie described herself as a ‘tantalizing conversationalist’ and said that she has a ‘edgy yet tasteful sense of humour’. She also provided a linear progression chart to demonstrate the increase in her breast size over the years, which is a more unusual way of describing her figure than we are used to.

Lizzie did not win over the man of her dreams, but she did get rather a lot of offers from other men who saw her post online.

What we can learn from this?: We learnt that becoming a social media sensation can help you to expand your search. For those of you who don’t fancy having your face on news websites around the world, the most important thing to take from this is that you should identify what your best features are so that you can share them on your dating profile. However, we wouldn’t recommend describing your bra size in such great detail.

The heir and a spare

The story: A 70-year old man went on This Morning in the hope of meeting a woman who become his wife and with whom he could ‘breed’ and produce two male heirs.

Baronet Sir Benjamin Slade‘s description of what his ideal wife would be like shocked presenter Ruth Langsford as she thought that it sounded like he was recruiting for a housekeeper. Tasks for his dream wife include looking after his houses, looking after cattle, but she would get to attend lavish parties.

Surprisingly, he did receive lots of offers after the show was aired.

What can we learn from this: You are never too old to look for a spouse and you don’t always have to look for someone who is the same age as you (although you will get fewer angry responses if you look for people of a similar age to yourself). His attitude upset a lot of viewers, but the applications that he received did show that no matter how controversial your views are, there will always be someone who is not put off by them. Honesty is always the best policy even if you don’t follow modern societal norms.
