“Why do I always attract weirdos?” is something that you’ll hear a lot, if you’re not the person who is saying it in the first place.

Before we address the problem, we need to establish what a weirdo is. Well, Dictionary.com says that a weirdo is ‘an odd, eccentric, or unconventional person’, but in terms of dating, the phrase is generally used to describe someone who is thought to be creepy.

You need to meet like-minded people

One persons weirdo is another person’s perfect match, you just need to find someone who shares your obsession, or at least understands why you are obsessed with it.

If you join a niche dating website like Muddy Matches, you will be able to meet people who have a similar lifestyle to your own. That way they won’t think that you are a weirdo for spending your weekends at the stable, or shooting clays instead of going to bars or nightclubs.

You are stuck in a routine

If you are always going to a particular pub with the hopes of meeting someone nice, then your routine is harming your chances. If you always meet creepy people there, it’s time to try somewhere new.

Take up a new hobby, or find somewhere new to meet with your friends.

You are approachable

People who have difficulties with socialising with others are often drawn to those who are outgoing and friendly as it makes them more approachable. If you find that you are approached by people who make you feel uncomfortable, tell them politely, but firmly that you are not interested. If you are too nice and carry on talking to someone they will think that you are interested in getting to know them better.

They are just nervous

When you are desperate to impress someone it can have the exact opposite effect. The person who is behaving strangely around you might just be very nervous. If you knew them before they had romantic feelings for you, then you will be able to see if it is out of character. However, if you didn’t know them beforehand you will have to either them a chance, or prepare to move on.

You have to kiss a few frogs

If the first person you met was perfect, you wouldn’t be dating at all. Unfortunately, before meeting your perfect match you will need to kiss a fair few frogs.
