Getting back to Dating

broken-heart

So… you’ve broken up with your partner and are keen to start dating again. How do you go about internet dating when you’re used to being in a relationship?

Take your time

When you’ve broken up with someone, take your time to get over them. If you’re still keen to get back together, or if you can’t stop thinking about them, it’s too soon to move on.

Take time to enjoy being on your own, whether that’s taking up a new hobby, or just relaxing on the sofa in your pyjamas.

Ask for help

When you’re ready to get back to dating, ask your friends for help.

Your friends can help by letting you know about their own experiences of online dating and will be able to tell you about their favourite dating websites. They’ll also be able to help you to choose a great profile photo and to highlight some of your best qualities, which you should mention in your online dating profile.

Get started

When you’re ready to start online dating and have chosen the perfect website to join, it’s time to get started. Sign up to the website and take a look around to get a feel for things.

Then it’s time to add a few paragraphs about who you are to your dating profile and some photos that show people what you really look like. Your profile won’t be set in stone, so you can go back and make changes as and when you like.

Make a move

If you’ve found someone who you would like to get to know better, do not just sit back and wait for them to get in contact with you. Take a look at their profile and send a short, personalised message that will get conversation started.

Don’t worry if you don’t receive a message back straight away as it might mean that the other person is carefully crafting a reply, or they might not have access to their account on a regular basis.

Getting back to dating can be scary, but it’s worth it to meet someone special!
