Lessons from Undateables

Whether you love it or hate it, controversial dating series Undateables can teach us a lot about dating. Here are a few things that the new series has shown us so far…

Put yourself out there

tv

It takes a very brave person to share their dating experiences on television, but for most people, just putting yourself out there is the most important thing.

When rugby playing Tom appeared on the show he was exposed to thousands of adoring people who were won over by his looks and personality.

Online dating is a more accessible way to show your best qualities to thousands of people. Make sure to fill in your profile text with information about what makes you special and unique, and add lots of attractive photos to show off your good looks.

Don’t be afraid to take advice

As well as showing the daters themselves, Undateables also focuses on the dater’s family as they prepare for a date.

Friends and family can be a great source of advice whether you are writing your dating profile or deciding what you should wear on a first date. A pep talk from your nearest and dearest can also boost your confidence.

Understand that it’s OK to be nervous

Tammy was relieved to find out that her date was nervous about how he would look on the date, as she had been nervous herself.

Share and listen

James admitted to being obsessed with politics and enjoyed discussing politics and current affairs with his friends at university. However, his mother advised him to make sure that he asked a lot about his date’s interests as well and his date seemed happy to speak about both his interests and her own.

This is important as it can be easy to get carried away talking about your favourite thing, especial when you are nervous.
