Valentine’s Gifts to Impress Your Date

Thursday, February 06th, 2014

It’s only a week to go until Valentine’s Day, but it’s still not too late to find a gift that will impress your new partner. Here are some ideas for presents (complete with exclusive discounts) that aren’t grabbed at the last minute from the nearest petrol station.

Something quirky

Let’s face it, it’s exciting to receive a present directly to your door on Valentine’s Day and it’s even more exciting when someone has taken the time to personalise a handmade gift for you.

We’ve teamed up with Bubblegum Balloons to offer all Muddy Matches members an exclusive 20% off their Valentine’s Balloons. The large, clear balloons are filled with confetti, have beautiful hand crafted tails and gently float out of their box when opened. Each balloon also has an envelope and card to match, which you can personalise for your Valentine.

Flowers and chocolates

Flowers and chocolates are classic Valentine’s presents for a reason, as they are a lovely treat that you wouldn’t usually buy for yourself. This year, instead of turning to large boxes of mass produced chocolates and flowers flown in from around the world, you could choose artisan chocolates and locally grown flowers.

Head to our news page for your chance to win flowers and chocolates from The Great British Florist and also to receive £10 off selected bouquets.

Cheesy present

If your date doesn’t have a sweet tooth, head to your local delicatessen or farm shop for a cheese board. At this time of year lots of shops will offer Valentine’s Day themed presents.

Homemade dinner

If presents aren’t your thing and you have known your Valentine for a while, you could always cook them a homemade dinner with lots of fresh, local produce. You’ll get extra brownie points if you’ve grown it yourself!

Horsey present

If you want a present for a horse lover, that won’t break the bank, you could get a pair of horse pattern riding socks from Equus England. The red colour gives a nod to Valentine’s Day, while also giving a nod to the true love of their life – their horse. Practical and stylish – you can’t go wrong!
