November Dating Ideas In The Countryside

Crisp, cool air, rosy cheeks and the prospect of a warming drink after a day outdoors… November is a magical and super-romantic time for dating, especially if you love being outdoors in the countryside. If you’ve met your muddy match on our countryside dating site and want to woo them the right way then be inspired by today’s blog post in which we bring you our favourite rural dates for November. Wrap up warm, pack the thermos and get out there!

1. Bonfire and fireworks

The November dating season starts with a bang as its Bonfire Night on November 5. It’s a time-honoured tradition to get out to your local bonfire so make it extra-special by taking your date along. An evening at a bonfire and fireworks display is romantic and easy to arrange: there’s ready-made entertainment, delicious food and drinks (often locally sourced and seasonal), and with all the sparkling light shows and flickering flames, is totally magical too.

2. DIY make your own wreath

Love it or loathe it, Christmas is coming, so embrace the festive season and feel the cheer with a make your own wreath date. You don’t need to spend time and money with an instructor-led course; you just need some basic equipment and you’re good to go. First off, head in to the countryside for a foliage and leaf foraging expedition. Keep an eye out for holly, ivy, mistletoe and any lush greenery you can find, then collect some bright berries for a splash of colour. Back home get crafty and make a wreath base out of thick wire, then use thinner wire or twine to bind the greenery around, before the finishing touches of berries, ribbons, gaudy baubles and glitter spray.

3. Winter rambles

We always preach about the benefits of a long walk in the countryside. As well as a chance to chat and share, you’l get the benefits of a good cardio workout, a dose of Vitamin D (sunny skies permitting), a boost to your self-esteem thanks to its ‘green exercise’ status and a lift in your all-round spirits. Choose a local beauty spot or head to the hills to get your blood pumping.

4. Cycle around a lake

Make the most of the crisp clear days of November and get out on your bike. There’s nothing more satisfying than a round tour. We love being next to the water so why not head to your local lake or reservoir? We love Clumber Park, Rutland Water and Kielder Water – all easily circumnavigable by bike and with hot food and drink to celebrate finishing.

5. Parkrun

If the thought of a coffee or drinks date puts shivers down your spine then why not opt for more active date idea? If you’re both in to running or walking, arrange to meet up at your local parkrun. Having a goal takes the focus off your meeting and, bonus point, you’ll have something shared to chat about when you have time together at the end.

6. Day camp

Hark back to the days of guides and scouts with a DIY day camp. Add in your activity of choice (scrambling, hiking, cycling, running and so on) and you’re good to go. Just pack a tent, your cooking gear, suitable clothes and footwear and some delicious food and drink, then pick your location to set up camp. After the activity of choice, cosy up and cook a warming dinner before settling down with your date to watch the sunset.

7. Forage for dinner

The British countryside has a plethora of goodies to collect… wild garlic, cooking apples, crab apples, chestnuts, blackberries. Enjoy some time outside with your country date then head back home to get in the kitchen cooking and baking together. After all, what could be better than a cosy dinner a deux with a satisfying apple and blackberry crumble?
