Starting from Hamble, near Southampton, there will be a day's training on the Friday and a chance to get to know your fellow crew members, followed by the race itself on the Saturday. Saturday night will be spent joining in the post-race festivities, followed by a leisurely sail back to Hamble on the Sunday.

Tickets cost £515 (or £475 for a galley berth) and include everything except dinner on the Saturday night and drinks ashore. Click here for more information and bookings.

Who Can Take Part?

“Art in a Box” – Bringing Art Into the Countryside

Our friends at the RABI have come up with great new fundraising idea that also focuses on bringing art into the countryside.

As RABI Regional Officer Milly Wastie explains, “the idea of ‘Art in the Box’ is to encourage farmers to clear out any spare loose boxes or stables they may have and turn them into miniature art galleries to host their own art exhibitions.  It would be absolutely wonderful if farmers up and down the country get behind Art in the Box, it is a very straight forward event to organise, and one that could be hugely effective in raising much needed funds.  Not only will ‘Art in the Box’ bring art into the countryside but it would also encourage people from towns and cities to venture into the country too.”

The first ‘Art in the Box’, which is to be held at Pastures Farm in Grendon, Northamtonshire in July, will feature 30 local artists, all of whom will be exhibiting a maximum of three pieces each.  Money will be raised by charging exhibitors a small hanging fee and taking commission on any picture that is sold.  In addition, visitors to the ‘Art in the Box’ will be asked to buy an exhibition sheet.

‘Art in the Box’ will be held at Pastures Farm, Grendon, Northampton NN7 1JD from 1st – 8th July and will be open daily from 2pm – 6pm.  More information is available from Debbie Skinner, d.skinner@btinternet.com or call 07890 917325.

Anyone wanting to organise their own Art in the Box exhibition in aid of RABI in the East Midlands should contact Milly Wastie on 07525 323450 or email: milly.wastie@rabi.org.uk.

“Truly, mudly, deeply”

The interview we did for the Daily Telegraph seems like light years ago so when we popped up in the paper on April 21st it was quite a shock.  Look at us next to Tara P-T!!

To quote: “it would be surprising if Muddy Matches did not become as popular over time as the more established and specialist dating websites for horse lovers and riders” – here’s hoping!

Of course, since the interview was some time ago, we now have more than 650 members; in fact, there are now well over a thousand ‘muddies’ signed up to the site!
