Life with my livestock farmer is acres of fun!

When 47 year old legal executive Lisa from County Durham took the bold, brave decision to get herself back out onto the singles scene in December 2016, she did so by putting her trust and faith in the traditional values of Muddy Matches.

13 years on from her first foray into online dating, she did not know what to expect but was attracted to the UK country life dating website by her ‘love of the countryside’. Her hopes were to meet ‘a cuddly man looking for his soulmate’ who also shared her passion for life outdoors.

6 months from free sign up, and after making the most of her subscription as well as a detailed profile packed with info and photos, Lisa landed her muddy match; a 51 year old livestock farmer called Kenny, from Thirsk in North Yorkshire.

Now the pair are engaged to be married next year and live together on Kenny’s remote family farm. It is a life that Lisa wouldn’t swap for anything, or anywhere, in the world.

“We live just inside the North Yorkshire Moors National Park” she tells us. “We have the most amazing views from the farm. On a clear day we can see as far as 60 miles across to the Yorkshire Dales.

“We do have fun times on the farm. The farm is very close to the Hambleton Hills and the Cleveland Way so we have lots of beautiful countryside and walking on our doorstep.”

It sounds idyllic for an outward bound lady who was an active part of a walking group in her native North East before joining her muddy match 50 miles south.

She still works as a legal executive but, now working from home on the farm, she enjoys a lot more quality time with Kenny, and their two border collies Meg and Bertie.
“Kenny and I love to walk around the farm together to check on the livestock. There’s 67 acres of it to cover.

“I also try and help out on the farm where I can” she adds. “We have 3 ducks, 13 hens as well as two dogs and a cat. Kenny spends the majority of his time looking after his 50+ herd of Limousin cattle and his 50+ flock of sheep but I am certainly enjoying more time with him.

“He’s definitely got the muddy job; feeding and bedding up in the cow sheds can get rather messy at this time of year when its wet and damp. Sometimes I help him feed but involves walking around the sheds amongst all the manure… lovely!”

Rambler Lisa and farmer Kenny may come from different walks of country life but the magic of Muddy Matches brought them together.

“I can honestly say that my experience on Muddy Matches was great,” Lisa adds. “It was my first venture into online dating for 13 years; for those who are sceptical I say just keep making connections. You have to meet up with someone though to know the real person.”

That was definitely the case for Lisa and Kenny whose opening gambit by message critiqued her hair colour and a desire to see her ‘blonde’. Kenny also raised concerns about the distance between them and his farm schedule but Lisa was quick to qualm such fears, insisted “she had wheels and would move for the right man.”

Now the pair are looking forward to a summer wedding next year – and you never know, Lisa may even convince her farmer to finally have a holiday – by way of honeymoon – after 31 years without the luxury of such a break.

It’s just another of the muddy hurdles in the life of Lisa; soon-to-be farmers wife.
