5 Things not to put on Your Dating Profile

Your online dating profile is your chance to tell people about who you are, what you like and what you are looking for in an ideal partner.

However, there are some things that you shouldn’t include in your dating profile…

  1. Don’t include your contact details

Adding your phone number, or email address to your profile may seem like a logical way to get people to get in contact with you, but it will put you at risk of unwanted attention.

All online dating websites, including Muddy Matches of course, have a secure and private messaging service that will protect your personal details until you know someone well enough to exchange phone numbers.

  2. Don’t include negative comments

If you have been single for a lot longer than you would like to have been, then you will have become jaded by the whole experience. However, it is not a good idea to say things like “I don’t know why I bother, I’ll never meet anyone decent”.

  3. Avoid clichés

Adding lots of clichés like “I’m looking for my knight in shining armour”, or “I like going out, or staying in” as they don’t tell people about who you are as an individual.

  4. Don’t add a long list of requirements

It’s good to outline some of the personal qualities that you are looking for in a partner, but try not to add a prohibitively long list of requirements that mean that there’s only one person in the world who would match up to your expectations.

  5. Don’t use strange abbreviations

You don’t need to use abbreviations like WLTM (would like to meet) on your dating profile as you aren’t restricted to a couple of hundred characters like you are if you are writing a personal advert.
