It’s the most wonderful time of the year, according to Andy Williams anyway. There are lots of seasonal date ideas to impress your date, even if you’re not in the Christmas spirit.

Christmas Market

There are over 200 Christmas markets across the UK and Ireland, so you’re bound to be within reach of one of them. On your first date it’s important to meet in a busy public place and you don’t get much busier than a Christmas market in December. Just remember to meet in a recognisable part of the market, so that you don’t spend 30 minutes looking for the person in the red hat and gloves.

If you both enjoying looking at crafts and gifts, you can check out the stands or you can relax with some festive food and drink if you’re not too keen on shopping.

Ice-skating

Ice-skating rinks can be found at a number of Christmas markets at this time of year, or you could head to an indoor rink together. Ice-skating is another good first date idea as you’ll instantly have something to talk about, so there won’t be any awkward silences.

Panto

Panto isn’t just for children – there are lots of pantos and festive plays that are geared towards adults and frankly even the traditional ones have a lot more to them than screaming ‘it’s behind you’. A panto is more suitable for a third date than it is for a first one as you won’t be able to chat through it. However, most theatres have a cafe or bar area where you can sit and chat after the show.

Christmas Carols

Local churches, town centres and school halls are the place to head for a Christmas carol concert with your date and most offer tasty mulled drinks for you to catch up with each other afterwards.
