Red and orange leaves

For full-hardy ‘muddy’ people, the changing of the seasons is no reason to hang up your boots and to go into hibernation. October is a fantastic month to get outside and enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer. Here are a few suggestions for enjoying the great outdoors with your date this month.

Walking Festivals

As well as those joining Muddy Matches to meet the love of their live, there are also thousands of people looking to meet new friends on the site. So if you’re looking to make new friends or are looking to find a safe and informal place to meet your new date you could join one of the organised walks as part of a walking festival.

Go foraging

Foraging is a popular activity at this time of the year, with lots of tasty food on offer. Although not ideal for a first date (as you should meet in a busy public place), it’s a fun way to work together as a team. Just make sure that you aren’t trespassing, taking things that you shouldn’t be or taking too much. Country Life magazine has created a helpful guide to foraging in October that will come in handy if you aren’t familiar with what is on offer.

Country shows

Our country calendar is still full of countryside shows in October if you’re looking for somewhere to meet your new ‘muddy’ date.

Halloween

If you enjoy Halloween you can indulge in some Halloween fun by carving a pumpkin together, making some creepy looking edible treats and enjoying a horror film session if you’re feeling brave!
