New Year’s Dating Resolutions

This year, instead of going with the usual “I’m going to quit [insert something that you enjoy]”, make 2013 the year that you make the most of internet dating.

Here are some attainable dating resolutions for you to try:

Go for it! – If you don’t already have a profile online, what are you waiting for? You don’t have to write thousands of words; just tell people a little bit about yourself and what you’re looking for in a partner.

Add a photoIf you haven’t added a photo to your profile, now’s the time to do so. Ask a friend to take a nice head and shoulders shot of you and don’t forget to smile. It’s the single most important thing you can do to increase the number of people who will look at your profile.

Fact checkHave a look through your dating profile and make sure that the facts are correct. It’s especially important to check that your age and gender is listed correctly – you don’t want to miss out just because you’ve selected the wrong thing!

Proof read – Even if you used a spell checker before uploading your profile, take a look back over your profile to make sure that you are happy with it. For example, you wouldn’t believe the amount of times we’ve seen the phrase “I like to wear green willies”, instead of wellies due to American spell-checkers.

SubscribeWe understand that times are hard and people are reluctant to spend money on dating, but if you subscribe to a dating site you will be able to get the most out of it. Once you have subscribed, make sure that you contact everyone that you fancy to make sure that you get your money’s worth.

Message people – It can be nerve-wracking sending your first ever message on a dating site, but once you’ve got over the initial hurdle it does become easier. When it comes to online dating the old saying “nothing ventured, nothing gained” really does apply, so don’t just sit back and wait for other people to contact you.

Happy New Year!
