Jane and Duncan’s Story Featured in The Times
We were delighted to see a feature on Jane and Duncan in the Marriages and Engagements section of The Times.
The couple started chatting on Muddy Matches back in 2007 and were in fact some of the very first people to join the website. Jane was a university friend of Emma, one of the website’s co-founders, and Duncan was a friend of a friend who had heard about the launch of the site. Both of them joined to help support a fledgling business and ended up finding true love in the process! However, as you will read in the article below (just click on it to enlarge) it wasn’t a speedy romance – in fact they didn’t actually meet until 2 years after they had first emailed each other! Despite the fact that they lived hundreds of miles apart, when they did meet they were clearly perfect for each other and the couple are now very happily living together and will be getting married in April 2012.
We are now engaged…
“Met someone through your website who lives only twenty minutes away and after 18 months we are now engaged and hope to get married later this year! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!” Yvonne
We are getting married on the 7th of June…
“I met Sarah through your site nearly three years ago and we are getting married on the 7th of June this year in Oxfordshire. Thanks very much for everything.” Mark
Now I have a permanent smile on my face…
“Dear Muddy Matches Team,
I am writing to tell you how glad I am to have joined your dating site. I joined last year hoping to meet like minded people with a love of the outdoors. I think it was a brilliant idea to rate people by their muddy factor too. It did take me some time to get into the swing of this whole internet dating world. I was beginning to feel like nothing would come of it, but remained hopeful, there’s certainly no harm in looking online, as well as in day to day life.
There were lots of handsome men but reading their profile left me wanting something more. Sometimes they looked ideal but then it might say ‘hate vegetarians’ or ‘hate people who are late’ which I am both. Every so often I would come back and do a search within 100 miles and also look for a few traits I value highly (A very sensible approach). Then I started looking at new profiles, just to see. I found a few I hadn’t come across in my search criteria and messaged them. Then one time I looked in the ‘new’ section and saw Richard smiling back at me. He was a bazillion miles away but I felt I had to say something… even if it was just to send a muddy wolf whistle his way. I had no idea what might come of it but I am so glad I did. Everything he wrote was right…his voice was right… the way he looked was right. Now I have a permanent smile on my face, giddy like a teenager. He loves me…. and I love him. Thank you Muddy Matches!”

We are off on our honeymoon to Oz next weekend…
“Thank you so much for finding my now wife ! We are off on our honeymoon to Oz next weekend. Although we weren’t on your site for long as we met each other on our first attempt but that was all it needed. That’s the benefit of having a slightly more narrower type of person on here with generally at least one thing in common, Country Life ! (Not the butter !)” Oli and Kirstie x
I proposed on the steps of York Minster…
Back in April we received a fantastic success story from Lucy about how she had met Nick through Muddy Matches. We are very pleased to announce that they have now become engaged, with a date set to get married in September 2012. The couple were recently interviewed in an article in The Sunday Telegraph’s Stella Magazine. Nick said, “I proposed on the steps of York Minster. In my day-sack I had a bottle of chilled champagne and two flutes, engraved with ‘Nick and Lucy’s engagement, 2 July 2011′.”
