Long Distance
Jane and Duncan’s Story Featured in The Times
We were delighted to see a feature on Jane and Duncan in the Marriages and Engagements section of The Times.
The couple started chatting on Muddy Matches back in 2007 and were in fact some of the very first people to join the website. Jane was a university friend of Emma, one of the website’s co-founders, and Duncan was a friend of a friend who had heard about the launch of the site. Both of them joined to help support a fledgling business and ended up finding true love in the process! However, as you will read in the article below (just click on it to enlarge) it wasn’t a speedy romance – in fact they didn’t actually meet until 2 years after they had first emailed each other! Despite the fact that they lived hundreds of miles apart, when they did meet they were clearly perfect for each other and the couple are now very happily living together and will be getting married in April 2012.
We met on Muddy Matches…
“We met on muddy matches 2 and a half years ago and on 18th June 2011 tied the knot! At the time we met, I was living in Cardiff and Sam in Somerset. After 6 months of commuitng to Somerset every weekend we felt it was about time I moved to live with him and 1200 of his other ladies (Breeding Ewes!) We had the most amazing wedding day with a traditional country wedding in a barn and are looking forward to a long and happy future together.” Emily

“We fell in love from day one which until then I thought was not possible”
Just thought that you might have been interested to know that myself and Pam got married on the 30th December 18 months after we met online with your website. We fell in love from day one which until then I thought was not possible, within 2 months of meeting we were engaged to be married. It has been quite difficult as I work in Saudi Arabia so I am only back every 6 weeks for 2-3 weeks which we both found difficult. I am however coming back in May to work in the UK and also try and develop our photography company further that we set up together, www.ppstudios.co.uk .
Our wedding day was just amazing and despite a cold spell before hand, our wedding day was mild, quite sunny and everyone that came really enjoyed the day, we had 161 people at the wedding and 275 at the night reception from famers to jockey’s and trainers.
Myself and Pam are not only Husband and wife but most of all best of friends as well and we cannot thank you enough for setting up your website and getting us together. I have included some photos of our day as I know you will probably be interested in taking a look. I have recommended your website to many friends and a couple of them have now found love also.
Anyways thanks for everything you have done for us and I hope you have further successes and your company goes from strength to strength in 2011.”
Andrew
We are now living together and things are going so very well…
“I no longer use the site as I have actually found a partner on here. Thank you so very much! Even though we were miles apart, we started dating in the middle of last year. We are now living together and things are going so very well.
Thank you thank you thank you!” Christy
We are totally happy together and are a little match made in heaven…
“Hi, I met Mark on Muddy Matches in June, we eventually met up in August, and haven’t looked back since. We are totally happy together and are a little match made in heaven! Even though we live miles apart we take turns to see each other at weekends. And when the dust has settled were gona get hitched, yep know already that we want to be together. Thank you Muddy Matches. You have made us both very happy.” Kelly
Sorry but your website is too good…
“Sorry but your website is too good. i took one months membership to see if it suited me and have already found that special person! although we are two and a half hours apart we have spent so much time talking to each other (conversations regularly last 3 to 4 hours – some even over 5 hours long!) that we are getting together this weekend and next weekend. thanks from both of us – keep up the good work” Chris
We have just got engaged…
“Dear all at Muddy Matches. We wanted to write and let you know our very exciting news – Shamus and I met on your site about a year ago, actually within a week of both of us joining and we have just got engaged! We are both very happy and are getting married in Leicestershire on 24th October.
When I joined your site about a year ago I never imagined it would be so successful – Shamus and I “cyber met” each other within a week of us both joining the site. Shamus sent me a message and within a week we’d gone from message to email to text to Skye and then finally spoke on the phone and then everyday until we met about three weeks later (as Shamus lives in Edinburgh and I London) but since then we’ve hardly been apart. We came to see you at the Game Fair last year (you have a picture of us in your news area!).
I was very sceptical about these dating sites but now I am your biggest fan and I tell everyone about your site so thank you so so much for introducing us to each other – you are the “Lady Catherine de Burgh’s” of the 21st Century. Love Ali & Shamus”

Met someone on here back in Feb and all going so far so good…
“Met someone on here back in Feb and all going so far so good and remembered memebership due to expire around now so didnt want it to auto-renew*!! Have recommended the site to friends.
It’s quite funny, I had tried [other websites] in the past and had met a couple of very nice people for dates but they were all very city minded and not really my type. I travel so much its very hard to meet people. I found Muddy Matches by chance and I’m very happy I did. I met Edward after a few emails and a phone call and despite me living in Scotland and him in Kent, we’ve managed to see each other every couple of weeks in Scotland, Paris and a couple of weeks ago he took me to York to meet his mum! I’m off again to see him this weekend whilst I work in London and we’ve booked a holiday together (with our dogs) in June. I’m a little shy of being too cocky as its still quite early in real terms, but we’re both delighted to have been introduced thro you. I hope that isnt too gushy but as you say hope it makes all your work worthwhile! Also, one think I liked was the evenings & boat holiday etc. I didnt come but I would have!” Vivien
*A note from Muddy Matches: for the record, we don’t actually auto-renew our members’ subscriptions when they run out – that’s very rude when sites do that, don’t you think?!
