Photo Call – Put your running shoes on!

It’s the Virgin London Marathon this weekend, one of the biggest running events in the world and, whilst none of us at Muddy Matches HQ will be taking part (maybe it’s something MM Lucy would consider for next year?), I’m sure we’ll be watching the athletes and fun runners alike enduring the 26 miles (best not forget the other 385 yards) of cobbles and tarmac!

Here are a few of our members who also appear to enjoy getting out and about in their running shoes!  If you would like to find out more about any of the members below then click on the image to be taken to their profile.

Government Planning Reforms: Have your Say

Under the Coalition government’s proposed new planning rules, the UK countryside is under threat and the National Trust is campaigning to ask them to rethink.  On their website they say:

For decades our planning system has protected much loved places from harmful development. The Government’s reforms turn this on its head, using it as a tool primarily to promote economic growth instead.

Despite news that the Government has offered to talk through the proposed changes to the planning system, we’re not convinced they’re listening. Until Government can guarantee they’ll consider a new approach, we will continue to campaign hard and urge you to get involved.

We believe in growth – but not at all costs. Planning for people combines long-term growth with other important things like local character and space to breathe, tranquillity and beauty. We need a system that serves all our interests, from commerce to communities.

For more information about this issue, you might be interested in reading National Trust chairman Simon Jenkins’ recent article in the Guardian.  The latest updates are also being posted on the National Trust blog.  If you would like to support this campaign and have your say, please sign their petition by clicking on the link below.

Beginner or Experienced Skier?

We've still got a few tickets for grabs for our forthcoming Ski-Snowboard trip to Tignes from Sunday 13th – Sunday 20th March.

We're delighted to be going to such a fantastic resort and there is something for everyone. Tignes is served by the ski area of L'Espace Killy which is shared with Val D'Isere. There are over 190 miles of pistes, over 150 shops, 115 bars and numerous ski schools so the week promises to be full of variety and adventure. There is a fast and efficient lift system including 97 lifts and 2 underground trains, one of which transports you from Tignes Val Claret to the panoramic restaurant on the Grand Motte Glacier.

It's worth remembering that you do not need to be an experienced skier to join our trip. We have a some beginners coming along who want to give skiing a go for the first time. Ski lessons are available in the resort and there are five free lifts in the resort for beginners to get you going.

For experienced skiers who are feeling adventurous, there is excellent off-piste skiing, as well as a half-pipe, boardercross course, and the 1992 Olympic downhill course, should you feel so inclined!

So, you can see that there is something for everyone, irrespective of ability and experience, and we'd love it if you could join us.

We have a variety of rooms available, and full details, including prices and a floor plan of the chalet can be found online.

If you've got any queries, then either e-mail us or give us a call on 01933 311500 and we'll answer any questions you may have.

This is a great opportunity to enjoy a quality resort, great skiing, and of course meet new like-minded people.

Free Love for Rural Singles This Valentines Day

It seems like the cost of everything is going up at the moment so the girls behind rural dating site MuddyMatches.co.uk have decided to spread some muddy cheer by offering rural singles the chance to use their site for free in the run up to Valentines Day.

It is free to register on the Muddy Matches website, which launched in 2007 and now boasts over 50,000 members, but users are normally required to pay a subscription when they wish to communicate with another member, with prices starting at £18 for a month’s unlimited messaging.  This February, however, all members with completed profiles will be given two days’ free subscription to the site so that they can contact as many people as they want and hopefully bag themselves a date for Valentines Day.

We’re all feeling the pinch”, says Lucy, who runs the website with her sister Emma, “so we thought it would be a nice idea to give our members a helping hand in their search for love.”

The two days’ free subscription will be added on the 12th February so members will have the whole weekend to search the site and get chatting to anyone who might take their fancy.  To register on the site and add your profile, please visit www.muddymatches.co.uk.

For more information, please contact Lucy Reeves on 01933 311500 or at lucy@muddymatches.co.uk.
