About the Mud Lovers Ball

The Mud Lovers Ball came about when Muddy Matches co-founders Lucy & Emma decided they were tired of going to parties and balls where you only end up chatting to people you already know and that it was about time that someone launched a new breed of countryside-focused social event that placed an emphasis on meeting new people. Now in its third year, the ball seems to be going from strength to strength with hundreds of people travelling from across the UK and Ireland for this annual knees-up.

Book alone or with friends?

A large number of guests book on and attend the event alone, confident that lots of people will be in the same boat and they will have many opportunities to meet new people, both at the Pre-Ball Activity arranged by Muddy Matches (this year it’s a clay shoot) or at the ball itself with the welcome drinks and mixed table seating plans that provide initial introductions, as well as many other ice-breaking ideas throughout the evening which give you the opportunity and confidence to chat to other people.

Equally, many people get a group together and book with their friends, either spreading out over different Mixed Tables so they all meet as many new people as possible, or booking Private Tables and organising their own seating plans.

If you’re thinking about booking and undecided about what option would suit you best, give us a ring on +44(0)1933 311500 or email events@muddymatches.co.uk and we would be happy to discuss it with you.

Make a weekend of it

Knowing that a lot of you will have to come a long way to attend, we are doing everything we can to make it worth the journey. Not only will it be a cracking night, but we are also organising a couple of other events to encourage you to stay for the whole weekend, so why not join us for our Pre-Ball Clay Shoot on Saturday and/or our Post-Ball Lunch on the Sunday.

Thanks to everyone who has got in touch with their feedback on the night – we’re glad you enjoyed yourselves and also very impressed that so many of you have already planned (or in some cases already been on) a date with someone you met at the ball…we love success stories so keep us posted!

Some of your feedback from the night:

“I just wanted to write to say thank you for a fantastic evening.  The venue was great, the band were particularly excellent, the food was lovely and everything ran really smoothly.  I really liked the table quiz idea which served its purpose of allowing us to talk as a group and that the men moved round the tables [...].  I had a brilliant time and met some lovely people and will probably be meeting up with one particular member again!”

“Just mailing you to thank you for putting together a fantastic evening, i`m sure it was helped by a lot of hard work behind the scenes and also the beautiful weather, we all had a great time, i have since had a date with one of your guests(Sunday evening) [...] PS The band and singers were brilliant!”

“The ball was brilliant – very well organised indeed. Makes a change to have a good venue, good food, good music and excellent company  – normally you only get one of those things! Well done to you and your team!!”

“Thank you to all the team for such a well organised and hugely enjoyable time.”

“Just a quick note to say thankyou for a great night at the Muddy Ball, we three lads from Shropshire had a whale of a time and enjoyed it loads. It was a great night and good meeting loads of people who were all enjoying themselves.”

“I just wanted to email you to thank you for organising the ball. It was a lovely evening and a really good venue. I thought the food was lovely and all the staff had worked so hard getting everything ready. I also enjoyed the walk the next day.”
